The 4D™ Facelift is Dr. Raghu Athré’s customized approach to facial rejuvenation, combining facial lifting, volume restoration, and treatments to improve skin quality based on each patient’s anatomy and goals.
Depending on your anatomy and goals, your treatment plan may incorporate a deep plane facelift, deep plane neck lift, structural fat transfer, and complementary skin-rejuvenation treatments. For appropriate patients, surgery may be performed under local anesthesia with oral sedation.

What is the 4D™ Facelift?
The 4D™ Facelift was developed by Houston facial plastic surgeon Dr. Raghu Athré to address multiple dimensions of facial aging rather than tissue laxity alone.
The approach is designed to address three major components of facial aging:
- Tissue descent and laxity
- Loss of facial volume
- Changes in skin quality, including elasticity and texture
A facelift primarily addresses tissue descent and laxity, but facial aging also involves changes in volume and skin quality. Repositioning deeper facial tissues can improve overall facial contour, but lifting alone does not directly replace lost volume or address every change in the skin.
When volume loss or changes in skin quality are significant, complementary treatments may be incorporated into the surgical plan.
Facial aging often affects several tissue layers at the same time. The illustration demonstrates how tissue descent can occur alongside volume loss in areas such as the temples and under-eyes and changes in skin quality.
A facelift can reposition descended facial tissues, but lifting alone does not restore all lost volume or directly treat every skin-quality concern. The 4D™ approach allows these different changes to be evaluated together so the treatment plan can be tailored to each patient's anatomy and goals.

Ideal Candidates for the 4D™ Facelift

Because the 4D™ Facelift is customized to each patient, having one or more of these concerns does not necessarily mean surgery is appropriate. A consultation with Dr. Athré can determine whether the procedure is suitable for your anatomy, overall health, and aesthetic goals.
4D™ Facelift Recovery
Most patients should expect swelling and bruising during the early stages of recovery, with noticeable improvement over the first two weeks. Recovery varies depending on the procedures included in your individualized 4D™ Facelift and your body's natural healing process.
Around One Week: Patients return for a postoperative assessment so Dr. Athré can evaluate their healing and provide guidance for the next stage of recovery.
Around Two Weeks: Most patients are able to return to work approximately 12 to 14 days after surgery, although some swelling or bruising may still be present and individual recovery times vary.
Following Weeks: Healing continues after patients return to their normal routines. Because the 4D™ Facelift is customized and may involve multiple procedures, Dr. Athré provides postoperative instructions based on each patient's specific treatment plan and recovery.
