Under Eye Filler
Under-eye filler can restore lost volume beneath the eyes and soften the transition between the lower eyelid and cheek.
Have you noticed hollowing beneath your eyes, shadows that contribute to dark circles, or a pronounced transition between your lower eyelid and cheek?
The area around the lower eyelid and cheek is delicate, and age-related volume changes can make under-eye hollows and shadows more noticeable. Double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Raghu Athré offers under-eye filler in Houston using OcuRx, his approach to treating volume loss beneath the eyes with a hyaluronic acid filler selected for each patient’s anatomy and treatment goals.
“Love everyone! The staff is great, Dr. Athré is very available and helpful. I recommend Dr. Athré to all my friends and family.”
About Under-Eye Filler
Under-eye filler is an in-office treatment that typically takes about 30 minutes. Local anesthetic is used to minimize discomfort, and most patients can return to their usual routine shortly after treatment.
The under-eye area has thin, delicate tissues and complex anatomy, making precise filler selection, placement, and volume especially important. Dr. Athré uses a conservative, individualized approach designed to restore volume where needed while maintaining a natural transition between the lower eyelid and cheek.
Not every under-eye concern is caused by volume loss, and filler is not the right treatment for every patient. During your consultation, Dr. Athré evaluates your anatomy, skin quality, degree of hollowing, and treatment goals to determine whether under-eye filler is most appropriate or another approach is more suitable.

About the Procedure
What to Expect During Under-Eye Filler Treatment
Under-eye filler is performed in the office and typically takes about 30 minutes. The treatment is tailored to your anatomy and the areas where volume restoration is needed.
Numbing the Treatment Area
Topical numbing cream is applied to the under-eye area and left in place for approximately 10 to 15 minutes to help minimize discomfort during treatment.
Filler Placement
Dr. Athré evaluates the areas beneath the eyes that would benefit from volume restoration. You will sit upright and focus on a point slightly above eye level while small amounts of filler are carefully placed along the orbital rim.
Depending on your anatomy and treatment plan, Dr. Athré may also treat the lateral, or outer, portion of the under-eye area. Filler may be placed along the orbital rim or in deeper tissues using a microcannula—a thin, blunt-tipped tube that allows small amounts of filler to be placed precisely.
Assessment and Finishing
After the filler is placed, Dr. Athré carefully evaluates both sides and may gently mold or massage the treated areas to distribute the filler evenly. Ice is then applied to help minimize swelling before you leave the office.
Under-Eye Filler Recovery
Most patients can return to their usual daily activities shortly after under-eye filler treatment, although temporary swelling or bruising is common.
Under-eye filler requires little downtime. After treatment, you may be advised to apply ice intermittently to help minimize swelling and bruising. Avoid strenuous exercise and be gentle with the treated area for the period recommended by Dr. Athré.
Because the tissues beneath the eyes have a rich blood supply, temporary swelling and bruising can be particularly noticeable in this area. These effects vary from patient to patient and generally improve as the area heals.
Although you will see a change in under-eye volume immediately after treatment, swelling and bruising can temporarily affect the appearance of your results. The outcome becomes easier to evaluate as these effects subside.
Under-eye filler is temporary, and the duration of your results depends on factors including the filler used, the amount placed, your anatomy, and how your body responds to treatment. Dr. Athré can provide a more individualized expectation based on your treatment plan.
